aplus01_small.jpgBeing the company of that repute, I would expect much more than of what was provided to us (us being I and one of my good friend Umair.)  In case you have never heard of it, Aplus.net is a huge domain name and web hosting company that has been providing service for a very lengthy time.

When I and Umair have finally decided on a domain name for our forth coming project, due to unfortunate luck, the domain was taken already and not only that… all extension of that domain have also been registered by someone else.  Knowning Umair, he is the king of bargain or least tries to be, he recommend we search on Aplus.net and what a LUCK!  The domain of the .us extension was actually avilable while every other registerar on the indrustly is showing that the name has been register for someone else and does not expire until December of 2007.  Wow - I was like totally amazed and therefore to confirm such… Umair and I both jumped to the live chat sales representative of Aplus and they also confirmed us that the name was available as well (see other post in chat session).  Anyways, Umair then registered the domain and the funny thing is he has gotten a confirmation stating that the domain has been registered and is pending - also mentioned that it expires in December of 2007… hmmp, as long as I have been in the internet and know about domain names and I know that the minimum registration period is one year… took me by surprise but thought we wait till the following day.

The following day, Umair recieved an email stating that the order has been cancelled as they were unable to deliver the domain.  Chatting that day (Umair) found out that you can register any name from them but have to wait till the next day to find out if you got it or not.  Funny, if you read the chat session you would know that based on the tech support, that’s the case… but in reality they actually DO tell you if the name is avilable or not.  If you read the chat session you’ll see the famous example set forth by the tech as “microsoft.com” would be avilable and you pay just to find out if they can register it or not… what a customer service APLUS… totally amazing!

The tech guy is WRONG… can not even speak proper english - under paid I am sure of that!  Now back to the topic, the tech-no-logic domain search continues…. so there is ONLY one domain that is taken and we wanted as they are the only company that shows as domain is still avilable, still does, just checked it now… but for privacy reason i’ll not mention the domain name unless APLUS contacted us personally with an apology and given us somthing free in turn –

Technically speaking, if they are using their own database to store the domain name and expiration dates… baby, they better update their database because that’s must be out dated by at least 9 months to date…. you do the math!

Yet another stressful of domain name day!
